Could this bring about a new wave of outdoor wear? A quick drying wool which claims to be completely dry in under 2 hours.

Japanese suit manufacturers Konaka & Co. have been working with the woolmark company and developed a wool suit made from merino wool. The pictures show that you can wash the suit in a shower it will then hang dry in under 2 hours and there is no need to iron the suit. The suit is being called “Shower Clean Suit”.

The suit has a hollow fabric structure allowing air to pass through it easily and has water repellents added to the suit and the machine washable interlinings.

Theres nothing worse than camping in the summer than waking up early in the morning to the glorious sunshine to find your perspiring before youve even started the day. A good way to ensure you have a bit more comfort in hot humid conditions whilst camping would be to invest in a camping fan. Camping fans can range from cheap to pretty expensive.

I saw a review of the Coleman Cool Zephyr ceiling fan over at uberreview. This is a great little solution for someone who wants a no frills fan and the cost is reasonable coming in at between $20-$30. Just note that the batteries it takes are size D which can add to the cost though and it takes 4 size Ds.

What are the Features of the Coleman Zephyr Fan?

The cool zephyr fan attaches to the camping tent ceiling through the use of a carabiner clip or magnetic plates. Its also safe to have around young children as the blades are made of soft foam so no damage will be done to little curious fingers. The light will last about 48 hours long on a low setting or 24 hours on high. There are 4 white Led lights and also an amber light which can be used at night. Another cool feature is that the fan and light operate on different controls.

The Coleman Zephyr Ceiling Fan is a nice economical option for the occasional camper going on short camping trips. Make sure you bring some spare batteries along if you plan on being away for a few days.

The pro 90 quilt is from bozeman mountain works. This is a light weight sleeping quilt which weights in at only 14-oz and is aimed at use for spring/summertime in wet conditions or can also be used as an overbag in the winter. Please note this is not a sleeping bag but a sleeping quilt.

The bozeman pro 90 is arc shaped and comes with a built in footbox, it is a nice comfortable shell and should stand the test of time well due to its good durability. It is made from a durable pertex quantum edurance ripstop material and to help the quilt breath the pro 90 has a pertex quantum taffeta lining. Between the shell and the lining is also a layer of polarguard delta insulation which will keep you snug into the chilly night.

Please note its stated on bozeman mountain works website that some care should be taken to not over compress any of the insulating material as this can damage and reduce how the pro 90 quilt will retain its heat.

The quilt comes in a charcoal gray color and two different sizes – regular or long. Retail prices will be around the $220 range.

Take a look at this beast. Its know as the Treetent and comes in at 13 foot tall. This sci fi tent hangs off a tree so just make sure its a large and strong one! It includes and I quote “adjustable planetary landing steps” so no problem getting into your pimped out, tent pretty cool eh.

The tree tent has a hardwood floor and is 9 feet in diameter which holds a round bed which will fit two adults no problem. This contraption of a camping tent is only for the mega rich though as one of these would set you back $50,000!

If you ever find it a hassle pitching camping tents up and would rather get set up quickly and then chill out then the gelert quick pitch range is what your looking for.

These beauties go up in literally seconds. The tents come in a bag you upon it up, toss the tent on the ground and hey presto it pops up right before your eyes. All the pain of having to clip poles together or battling with inners and outers is obliterated with quick pitch tents. Some people do find pitching their tents up to be half the fun of camping though, so quick pitch is not for everyone.

Review of Gelerts Quick Pitch Tents

Upon reviewing the gelert quick pitch tents the quality looks pretty good and should stand up to some force. The sheets of the tent and the poles are of good quality. If you are looking for a simple tent that is easy to pitch then these are great.

The prices are very good compared to other tents on the market. If you only use your tent a few times a year then why spend over £50 or $100 as the gelert tents do the job. If on the other hand you are quite an avid camper and will be up against extreme conditions then I would recommend to look for something a bit more robust.

Gelert offer quite a few different options on the quick pitch range so there should be something for your needs. The 2 berth tents do have enough space for two people to camp in but please note we found that when you got your sleeping bags in and any other equipment it can get a little cramped. If you wish for a bit more space and comfort the the 4 berth gelert tents may be more suitable.

The tents also come with pre attached guylines that aid in tent pitching. The tents are packed in a bag and it is very easy to pack the tent back up again, taking a few minutes. The tents fit back into the bag with no hassle and you don’t need a massive IQ to fold it up in the correct manner like some tents.

Some Handy Quick Pitch Tips

Even though the gelert quick pitch is pretty simple to set up we do recommend you test it out a few times before heading off to your camping destination. Practice unpacking the tent and then packing it back up again.

Once you have seen how it works you will have no problems at setting your tent up and packing it up in record times.

The Quick Pitch SS

This is a single skin 2 berth tent from gelert and is available in a number of colours. The single skin will provide adequate cover for heavy rain but if you plan on camping in a place that will be raining for prolonged periods then a single skin may be a bit of a risk. Ensure also that you dont touch the sides in the single skin as it may stop it from working correctly. The tent has a hydrostatic head of 2000mm and weight of 2.05kg.

Gelert Quick Pitch Evolution 2

This one is a double skin quick pitch which is fully integrated giving more protection. The hydrostatic head is 3000mm and the weight of the tent is 3.3kg. One great feature of this tent is the fine mesh border which is ideal for keeping out any pesky bugs from visiting us at night. Another cool feature is the bright guylines on this tent which gives greater visibility, really helpful in areas with poor lighting.

The Quick Pitch DS2 from Gelert

The DS2 is a 2 man tent which comes with comes with additional fibreglass poles helping provide greater strength and stability to the tent. The tent comes with a hydrostatic head of 3000mm and a weight of 4.15kg. The DS2 quick pitch has a double skin and comes with 2 doors.

Even though there are extra poles included the tent is still easy and quick to pitch.

The DS4

The big brother of the DS2 providing space for up-to 4 people. Again comes with a double skin and offers a hydrostatic head of 3000mm and a weight of 5.95kg.

Summary

These tents are easy to use and ideal for occasional campers looking for an easy solution. The protection offered is good enough and the quality is great for the price. I would definitely recommend the gelert quick pitch tents. We give it a thumbs up as it looks so frigging cool when you throw it out and it pops up!
