The petzl tikka plus headlamp is a great headlamp and has some great features, firstly a bit about petzl.
Who are Petzl?
Petzl is a French company based near Grenoble in a place called Crolles. They manufacture many different types of petzl equipment from petzl climbing gear, caving gear and most famously the petzl headlamps.
The company was started in the 1970s by a mean name Fernand Petzl an avid cave explorer, the business is still family led with the current CEO being Paul Petzl who is Fernands son.
Petzl is at the forefront of technology by being the first to use LED (light emitting diode) technology within its headlamps, this happened in the year 2000.
Petzl look for constant innovation, the LED headlamps use new generation 5mm LED and high output LED. They are more battery efficient and last longer. The petzl head lamps also are very compact and light weight which is ideal for people practising outdoor sports, hiking or ideal for on camping trips. All petzl headlamp models are also water resistant and will therefore be fine in the snow or rain.
Due to the innovating design of the petzl headlamps the technology used has been adopted by a lot of other players in the outdoor headlamp market.
The Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp model
From our review of the Tikka plus model from petzl we can see its a nice model. It boasts 4 LEDs and has the ability to choose from 3 lighting levels. The 3 levels are maximum, optimum and economy levels and also has a blinking mode. The headlamp has an adjustable headband and is very comfortable so no issues if you need it on for a prolonged period of time. The light can be tilted so you can beam the light to the direction you desire.

The tikka plus model is an upgrade of the tikka headlamp which has only 10m distance and has only 3 LEDS. The non plus model is slightly lighter weighing in at 70g.
