Buck Knives - A Timeless Classic
The first buck knive was made over 100 years ago in 1902 by Hoyt Buck. Hoyt was a young blacksmith apprentice in Kansas who was looking to temper steel in a better way so it could hold an edge better.
Each buck knife was made by hand and in 1947 Hoyt along with his son Al moved to San Diego and set up a shop called H.H Buck & Son.

It was in 1964 that the son Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry by creating the buck 110 folding hunter knive. This knive is a classic and is the number 1 selling knive.
The buck-knife or buck knife is a term used to describe a folding lock blade knife. This is from the buck knives introduction of the 110 which was the most successful introduction of a folding lock knife.
What are Buck Folding Knives?
It means when a knifes blade folds into its handle. You will see this now with the common pocket knife. The buck knive also had a locking mechanism that locks the blade into place when opened and then it would not close until a release mechanism is pressed. This design made it a great hunting knife.
