Sepaq the national park network based in Quebec announced late last month that they are expanding their ready to camp facilites across the 13 national parks they operate in.

They will be introducing french designed Huttopia tents. The rent a tents will be available from the 20th June 2008. This will enable a wider range of people and families to enjoy camping as literally anyone who wants to have the experience can have it without having to pay out for all the gear.

The tents are pitched on a 13*23 foot cedar platform. The tents will have 2 bedrooms that will be seperated by a curtain and a living room with furniture. Included will be a picnic table, two chairs, mattresses, lighting, fridge, camp stove and kitchen equipment.

The tents will be able to accomodate upto 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children and costs will be about $99 per night. Sepaq expects to have put up about 60 tents by the end of the year and 150 over a three year span.

The tent idea comes off of a successful introduction of 37 camp trailers in the parks last year by Sepaq.

Last year Google Maps added a neat little terrain feature and now it just got better with Google announcing that it added contour lines to its maps. You can also see some camping sites and trails on popular camping areas.

This cool addition to terrain maps will allow you to plan your routes better if you go off on a trek or hike.

Contour lines are lines on a map which join up areas of equal elevation, when you see that the lines are close together the area will be steeper and when the lines grow apart more you will get a flatter landscape.
